Abstract

This study examines the role of the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) implemented by the Réseau des Initiatives Agroécologiques au Maroc (RIAM) in promoting agroecology. Based on a qualitative survey of producers involved in the PGS, the research aims to understand how this system is perceived and used, as well as the challenges encountered in its adoption. The findings highlight that the PGS facilitates collective learning, knowledge sharing, and the recognition of agroecological practices, while strengthening trust between producers and consumers. However, producers report constraints related to procedures, logistics, and the institutional and commercial recognition of the PGS. These results indicate that, while promising for supporting the agroecological transition, the PGS requires adjustments to be fully adapted to the local needs and contexts of producers.
