Selection of plants adapted to the terraces of buildings according to their growth
Abstract
This article discusses the selection of plants adapted to the climatic conditions of vegetated terraces. Many plant species can be used, but this research project will primarily select plantings that are resistant to terraced conditions, low maintenance and drought resistant. Tests were carried out to choose plants from several species to plant on the terrace of the building, according to the criteria of adaptation to the climate of the terrace. From a large list of plants with potential for use on terraces, we chose six species: Sedum acre dark green, Sedum spurium, Sedum rupestre "Angelina", Sedum rubrotineturn, Echeveria australis rose and Kalanchoe thyrsiflora on which we conducted a comparison experiment on the basis of drought resistance, vertical and lateral growth speed in order to decide on the list of plants to be used on the terrace to be revegetated. The species selected according to the previous criteria are Sedum rupestre "Angelina", Echeveria australis rose and Kalanchoe thyrsiflora. Planting distance over one year for full patio coverage is 17.1 cm; 10.2 cm and 48.1 cm, respectively for Sedum rupestre, Kalanchoe thyrsiflora and Echeveria Australis Rose.
