Economic and social impact of Social and Solidarity Economy activities: Case of dairy cooperatives in the Middle Atlas
Abstract
The dairy sector in Morocco plays a key role both economically and socially. By promoting the economic inclusion of the population, particularly rural women, through the promotion of social and solidarity economy activities and value chains. By aligning with the recommendations of the New Economic Development Model (NMD) report and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), support for the agricultural value chain approach requires a thorough consideration of both the economic and social dimensions. The objective of this article is to explore the socio-economic impacts of the dairy value chain by the actors involved in the cooperatives. To this end, we conducted an empirical study on cooperatives in the Middle Atlas. The results obtained show that the activities of the SSE and its dairy value chains have positive socio-economic effects on the actors involved and the development of the region.
