Abstract

In order to contribute to the fight against gastrointestinal parasites of dwarf goat in Ivory Coast, an in vivo sensitivity of nematodes test was conducted on 239 goats from 17 farms.  The drug used was albendazole. The Willis flotation and the McMaster method were used to determine, respectively, the presence of nematodes in goats and parasite loads before and after treatement control. The results revealed a high efficiency of albendazole against nematodes at all experimental sites. The minimum percentage reduction of excreted eggs was estimated at 99.4%. These results highlight the low prevalence of albendazole-resistant nematodes in goat populations in the South and Center-East of Ivory Coast.
